Every time somebody asks if I want to do a show, I think of this, and wonder whether I should make a clean break and just quit improv.
This is completely fascinating to me. Because I feel like saying “no” a lot is the complete opposite of what we all think/thought we’re supposed to be doing.
I find this concept really interesting, and I think it’s true. I remember listening to Aubrey Plaza’s WTF podcast, and I paused for a second when she said, “Say yes to things.” I think that’s incomplete. It’s really important to say yes to things that excite you, things that are really interesting, and things that you believe are really, really good. If that’s not the case, say no. Time is a very finite resource, so be careful with it.
